- STOREFRONT IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM -- Alissa Gabriel runs the City's Storefront Improvement Program; you can apply for assistance to help pay for storefront improvement. Whose eligible: have to have a business license (tax cert.), store front must face the public right of way, anything over 80,000 sq. ft. is not eligible. Includes colors, tile, awnings, landscaping, trees, signage, exterior artwork (she has a list of 20 artists that if you pull from, you will get 1/2 reimbursement up to $7,500. 3. Police and Safety:
If you see Graffiti in progress, call 911. Also, call 619-531-2890 -
Graffiti detectives will be assigned to you. AND - Call 800-829-6884 to
reach Urban Core - they will document everything and clean it up (if
possible).
Growing Homeless problem, chaining shopping carts to trees, rummaging through clothing drop-off location.
4. Community Affairs:
Councilman Todd Gloria’s office — Current Dialogue passed out: Reverse
Angle Parking being added to 25th - will allow for bike lanes. Slurry
seal (blacktop) on roads - things to look for so we can report it and
have potential problems they need to inspect.
Jason with Assemblymember Toni Atkins office. Holiday party. Thursday
Dec. 13, 4:30-6:30 at Liberty Station. Collecting donations for the
needy: Baby/children’s items, Grocery store gift cards, etc.
GGHCDC — meets 3rd Thursday at the Golden Hill Rec Center at 6:30 p.m. Jinna to attend and report back.
5. Neighborhood Maintenance:
Fern between Cedar and Grape is black, need lights.
Time is correct on the Tower Clock on Grape and 30th.
Trash cans need to be washed. We are going to power wash all of the trash cans and setup a schedule to keep them nice.
Take down old yard sale signs you see, etc.
Update fliers in kiosks - David Skillman has the key. Monta Bryant offered to help keep them up-to-date if we get her the key.
We now have the keys to ashtrays, so if you have one in front of your business, get the keys from Matt and find your key.
Eclipse would like four benches if there are any available (contacting Luis Luhada from Golden Hill).
Painting fire hydrants, electrical boxes, and lamp posts: Sam Keenan
and Connie have paint colors. The city might come out and paint lamp
posts.
Stores are responsible for power washing sidewalks.
There are many maintenance issues, would be nice to compile a list of
resources: Lisa Vella will organize lists from business owners who have
resources (regarding above) - send to her in a Word/Excel document (do

6. Special Events:
Holiday Walkabout: Distribute WA guides to customers, includes special
events, music, locations, etc. If you would like Carolers - confirm with
Christi and pay today. We will have the WA monitor (Mary Jane) to walk
around and notify people that they need to move off sidewalks, ask
people to leave who do not have permission. If you decide to have
someone in front of your store - please have them fill out a form -
please ensure that people you invite are not blocking sidewalks or
parking spaces. Getting the Trolley to stop in front of your business:
talk to Maureen and she will ensure that they stop in front of/or talk
about your business.

6. ASK campaign: Membership fees are due for 2013, by February 15 (check or PayPal online)
Shop Local article in Night and Day: many businesses in SP were mentioned.
Branding Project: no updates.
7. Announcements:
New Businesses: none at this time.
Human Resources Dept. - perhaps we can find someone to help all SPBG
members with information on employer requirements, hiring forms,
employee handbooks, labor laws, storage of files, etc.
Plum Pottery open all day on WA with sales
Dr. Z. has new laws on Obama Care, etc. Also can ask Dr. Z questions that she will answer in her column: questions@southparkdoctor.com - North Park News.
Luci Dumas offering a $500 portrait for $100 donation: fundraiser during
December - goes to support individuals with Ovarian Cancer/research.
She also offers coaching, educating, mentoring on photography
Starting the Monday after WA many businesses will have extended hours,
Congratulations to Studio Maureen - 25 years.
The Grove: Congratulations on 9 years.
Thanks to Eclipse for bringing chocolates.
Junc Boutique is collecting toys, bring a new toy and get 20% off total purchase through December 10.
Small Business Saturday - stores were super busy. Junc experienced a lot of theft - be prepared next year.
Maureen had a great party, Jon Kanis wonderful DJ if anyone ever needs someone. Ask Maureen.
