MINUTES – November 30, 2011, 8:30 am at Alchemy Restaurant
SOUTH PARK BUSINESS GROUP MEETING

  1. Introductions
  2. Police and Safely – Susan De La Pena • There was a break-in on Edgemore last night. Laundry room windowpane was removed and items were stolen. They tried to use the keys and start the car, but the alarm went off • At 31st and B streets there was a carjacking at gunpoint. • People were stealing registration stickers off the license plates of cars. Try not to put them on top of the previous ones; it makes an easy stack to remove. • On Grape Street, someone was vandalizing cars, breaking the windshield wipers and taking off side mirrors • No further news on the high speed chase through 30th street a few weeks ago • Bicycle theft is high. Lock them and stow them out of sight. Bicycles are being stolen out of cars through broken windows, off porches etc. • REPORT thefts!!! “One of the Biggest Friends of Crime is Complacency” Online reporting now available. www.sandiego.gov/police/. Non-emergent police line 531-2000
  3. South Park Community Group (Matt Thomas) – the Plan update is moving but slowly. Next meeting 1st Wed of the month 12/7 at 6:30pm – talk to Matt at Alchemy. This one is important with information on zoning, , neighborhood districts, etc.
  4. Status of Incorporation of South Park Business Group- The articles have been filed with the Secretary of State for California. Extra fee for expedited filing of $300. Next steps are meeting with an accountant, reopening the bank account under the incorporated name, getting a Board of Directors and having Board meetings. Thanks to Chris Taylor for being our attorney!
  5. Walkabouts - 2012 Dates: 3/24, 7/14, 10/6 and 12/1. Please get your information for the 12/3 walkabout to Marsha at SPBG@Lucyslist.net. If you don't send it, you will not be on the Walkabout Guide. There will be carolers and Santa from 6-8 pm by Studio Maureen. IMPORTANT: If you serve alcohol, make sure you have a designated “bartender” to check for underage drinkers, drunk people who should not have more, etc. No blocking the sidewalks.
  6. Old House Fair – Tentative date is 6/23/2012 but it may need to be moved back to Father’s day weekend June 16 because of the conflict with OB street fair, with whom we share equipment
  7. ASK campaign – It is that time again. $100 per business by February 1, 2012 to keep/get you name in the Shopping guide, get listed on South Park Scene and get on the South Park Map. Checks to SPBG and give to Maureen. The amount may increase a bit later in the year if we don’t get a few grants, so more to come on that. The website is under construction. Universal vote to have hot links to our websites passed.
  8. Community Reports a. CDC – No new news. . b. MAD – Will likely be dissolved soon. Some want an informal committee to empty trashcans, etc. Some want to hire someone. We may be able to work with the City. Todd Glorias office is working on some of this too. David is looking into 501 C options. Best seems to be 501 C-4, which is faster to set up. Then, if we all pay into it, our donations will be a business expense, even if not tax deductible. Tree trimming may end up a responsibility of property owners. Are there any legal permissions we need first? Any way to work together to reduce price?
  9. New Business: - Luke from Lighten up food production sold at Grant’s. Healthy Vegan Muesli, wraps, etc -Heather at Adore cupcakes in the Gala parking lot open Thurs-Sun 12-7p. May be a coffee cart setting up in the parking lot there too.
