- Get your information for the 3/24 walkabout to Marsha at SPBG@Lucyslist.net. Plans include Beech Street Barbecue, and the walking tour. We are deciding on a western theme, like a Roundup. Dress-up is encouraged!
- If you serve alcohol (complimentary), make sure you have a designated “bartender” to check for underage drinkers, drunk people who should not have more, etc.
- No blocking the sidewalks.
7. Discussion of unauthorized vendors. It is a problem. Resolution passed to have a flyer of “Walkabout Etiquette” passed around to all businesses in the area. We would like to have someone follow up after that with a face-to-face discussion. Should we pay someone to walk around doing that? Or to walk around on Walkabout and be the “enforcer”? We want to be inclusive and supportive.
8. Old House Fair – Date is 6/16/2012. Opportunities available for booths and sponsorships, More houses are needed for the tour that have a “Park (or canyon) View”
9. Community Reports
a. CDC – Paid off one of its liabilities, working on the rest. They need more board members if you are interested. Also the mixer is tonight Studio Maureen on Beech at 6:30, $10 for non-members .
b. MAD – Will likely be dissolved soon. Continue to call them, they are still using their money to clean up graffiti, etc.
c. Todd Gloria’s office is looking for someone to host the Community Coffee on 2/25 at 10a-12p. Need to be able to sit about 15 people. Courtney Thomson is our new Liaison from Councilman Gloria’s office
10. New Business
a. Shred-a-thon – Luci Dumas is working on this, and she needs an assistant/co-planner. Looking at maybe the summer. Advertise it maybe as a community service event, $5 per box to shred. Will cost $400 or so plus our time. Event will need time to do a good promotion with flyers/posters/cards handed out and at all businesses, Craigslist and Facebook. Maybe link it to Spring cleaning or “groovification” of South Park, or with a “go paperless” theme. Tabled for future discussion. If interested, contact luci@lucidumas.com
b. Recycling Center at Gala Parking lot is bringing a lot of homeless in who then go into trash bins and wander about. Any way to talk to them, alleviate the problem? Anthony says Todd Gloria’s office will look into it, too, to see if there is anything we can do.
c. Gala Parking lot is putting in a new permanent structure for a drive-through coffee shop.
d. Handicap parking for businesses – A complaint was submitted to us regarding this. We have some by Alchemy, but not many up by Juniper. We need to catalogue where they are and consider asking for a few. This may tie in with the diagonal parking Matt has been looking into. City Engineer is the one in charge of these types of requests.
e. Oliver’s Hair salon is moving to Beech street
f. Jess Sanders of Space Emporium is expanding their meeting place for the Space Society to include a shop in the long term plans. Drop by for a t-shirt!
11. Announcements
a. Alchemy is having Barrel and the Beast – roast pig!
b. Crow’s Thief is designing the uniforms for Alchemy, and they’ll be involved in the fashion show and Fashion Week soon too.
c. Baby Garten is having more calls/business since they launched the new website Jennifer Thompson set up for them. Suggestion is to call Jennifer for a Make-over!
d. Studio Maureen and The Next Door Gallery has a new website as well, at www.studiomaureen.com. Marsha designed the website for them.
